Facts to remember

The barn in Kilgore was built by my grandfather David Hirsch Junior in 1933. They milked cows by hand until 1937 when grandpa bought a gas run milker. My dad David Junior Hirschi almost burnt the barn down when he went to start the milker and he filled it with gas and then pulled the crank and then took off the manifold cover to check to see if he had flooded it and it backfired and started the whole barn on fire. The cows were bellering and he had to use one of grandpa's fire extinguishers that takes the oxygen out of the air to put it out. He also had to turn the cows out of the barn for the same reason.
